Cianán is a typeface inspired by the script in an old Irish manuscript in the Bodleian Library, Oxford (Bodleian MS, Ir. e. 6). The manuscript can be viewed on the web, along with a selection of others, at http://image.ox.ac.uk/. The link to the description is broken, but it appears to contain the legendary history of Ireland. The name comes from an Irish scribe working in the 14th century—Seaán O Cianán.
The typeface includes accented characters and the German 'double-s' as well as most of the useful characters and punctuation.
This archive includes the PostScript Type 1 version for the Macintosh. A TrueType version for the Macintosh is also available. I don’t mind people converting it to use on other platforms for their own personal use, but please do not distribute such versions.
